I stumbled upon this writing job yesterday called Wordgigs. Basically you just have to sign up and when they have openings they will contact you. I waited 24 hours to hear back from them. After the hiring email arrives you just watch some videos and take a few tests and your in!

You start out as a novice writer mostly writing blurbs. Then you can move up to writing articles and mini posts. Hope this helps someone that is looking either to break into writing or someone who is looking for a writing job. It seems like a good opportunity. The training is very good!

Earn Cash With Amazon's Mechanical Turk

I've been doing 'hits' (human intelligent tasks) as they are called on Mechanical Turk for about a year and a half. The concept is based on the idea that many tasks can be performed better and more efficiently by a human being than a computer.

My experience with using the site overall has been a positive one. I've gained some valuable experience and had fun doing it. I was a little skeptical at first but decided to give it a try and I am very glad that I did.

There are a variety of tasks that you can do. You can pick from surveys, writing, evaluating sites, verifying information, and writing reviews to name a few. There never seems to be a shortage of work on the site. I am really amazed by the variety of tasks that are offered.

Some of the tasks are very low paying, but the money can really add up over time. The thing I found the most valuable about using the site was that it is a great way to gain some transcription experience. You can transcribe, grade, or edit Podcast which are put out by a company called CastingWords.

Most of the transcribing tasks are about 4-7 minutes long. Although there are some that are longer. There is no need to purchase any equipment to do the transcribing. You can download a free software program called Express Scribe which will help you start and stop the audio. You don't have to use the program but it makes transcribing so much easier.

Once you are finished your work is sent off to be graded by other transcribers. The higher or better your grade is the more you will get paid for the job. Most transcription hits offer a bonus for a high score. Sometimes they even run contests for transcribers where you can earn cash for the transcribing the most tasks

As long as you follow their guidelines you shouldn't have any problem maintaining a quality score. You can also grade other's work and edit finished work if you choose. A quaity score is also attached to each of these tasks.

For payment you just need to set up an Amazon Payment Account. You have the option of having your payment sent to your bank account or you can request an Amazon gift certificate. I've been paid several times and never had a problem receiving payment. It is usually sent a few days after it is requested. If your interested in signing up you can visit http://www.mturk.com.

You have to make a plan about the necessary activities in order for your body to stay healthy. Once you get sick, you won't be able to finish your job in the morning during your full-time job. You can also work efficiently during your part-time work-at-home jobs if your body is well rested.

You should make scheduling your primary friend. You need to realistically schedule your work-at-home jobs. If you are already working on a project that would take several days to finish and then the client offers another one, you have to inform your client that you are still working on the previous task. You might not be able to submit the new tasks if you accept to work on them.

You might still be able to work on additional tasks eight hours on Saturday and another eight hours on Sunday. However, you need to spend more time to relax and enjoy your rest days.

It never is a good idea to do your part-time work-at-home job while you are working your full-time job at the office. You will never be able to finish anything if you try to juggle your full-time job and part-time job while working at the office.

Like an acrobat in a circus, trying to make a balance between your part-time job working at home and the full-time day job can be challenging. But if you keep yourself healthy and set the right boundaries, you should be able to do both jobs efficiently. Work-at-home jobs are very lucrative these days. Virtual Call Center Jobs

There are many companies out there that will hire you to take inbound or outbound customer service calls from your home. You are not an actual employee but an Independent Contractor. Although, I have seen a few pop up recently that do hire you on as an actual employee they are few and far between. You are required to submit to a background check, and sometimes a credit check is also required before you can begin processing calls.

You do need to provide your own equipment, most companies will list their requirements on their website. Training is provide, but usually not paid for. You do seem to do best either working for a company that has a few different clients to take calls for, or to actually work for more than one of these companies. You are paid per talk minute, and sometimes hourly rates are offered. Pay varies depending on call volume and rate of pay, but I have averaged anywhere from $7-$12 per hour.

You will need to invest in a good headset. One with a noise canceling feature is your best bet, because these companies have zero tolerance for background noise. It's also a good idea to get a separate phone line, it may also be required to contract out with some of these companies.

The flexibility of working for one of these call centers is great. You can make your own schedule to work and a lot of the calls are available to take 24 hrs/7 days a week.

Experience with Amazon's Mechanical Turk

I've been doing 'hits' (human intelligent tasks) as they are called on Mechanical Turk for about a year and a half. The concept is based on the idea that many tasks can be performed better and more efficiently by a human being than a computer.

My experience with using the site overall has been a positive one. I've gained some valuable experience and had fun doing it.

I was a little skeptical at first but decided to give it a try and I am very glad that I did.

There are a variety of tasks that you can do. You can pick from surveys, writing, evaluating sites, verifying information, and writing reviews to name a few. There never seems to be a shortage of work on the site. I am really amazed by the variety of tasks that are offered.

Some of the tasks are very low paying, but the money can really add up over time. The thing I found the most valuable about using the site was that it is a great way to gain some transcription experience. You can transcribe, grade, or edit Podcast which are put out by a company called CastingWords.

Most of the transcribing tasks are about 4-7 minutes long. Although there are some that are longer. There is no need to purchase any equipment to do the transcribing. You can download a free software program called Express Scribe which will help you start and stop the audio. You don't have to use the program but it makes transcribing so much easier.

Once you are finished your work is sent off to be graded by other transcribers. The higher or better your grade is the more you will get paid for the job. Most transcription hits offer a bonus for a high score. Sometimes they even run contests for transcribers where you can earn cash for the transcribing the most tasks

As long as you follow their guidelines you shouldn't have any problem maintaining a quality score. You can also grade other's work and edit finished work if you choose. A quaity score is also attached to each of these tasks.

For payment you just need to set up an Amazon Payment Account. You have the option of having your payment sent to your bank account or you can request an Amazon gift certificate. I've been paid several times and never had a problem receiving payment. It is usually sent a few days after it is requested. If your interested in signing up you can visit www.mturk.com.

The way it works is that you enter your text in a box and it will bring up relevant links, pictures, and related articles. The extension is available for most browsers. There is a demo on the site where you can try it out for yourself.

The pros and cons of working from home

When I first started working from home three years ago, I felt that my dreams had been answered. Little did I know it wasn't going to be the cake walk I thought it would be. There were a few challenges I wasn't prepared for, but learned to overcome then in time.

What are some challenges you might face if you decide to work from home?

* Other people, including family and friends don't take what you do seriously.

I was shocked at how many people close to me didn't view what I did as a real job because I was siting in my home.

* Your family. It is their home too, and whether you want it to or not your decision to work from home is going to effect them too.

* Noise and interruptions. It's hard to control who knocks at the door or when the phone is going to ring. If the job you do requires complete silence this can definitely be a challenge.

* Low pay. Depending on what type of work you choose many at home jobs can be very low paying. There were times that I literally worked for and made $1/hr. Finding a combination of jobs seemed to work best for me and I was able to bring in a decent income.

* Self discipline. That's a hard one! It takes a lot of self discipline to be in your comfy home and be dedicated to finishing the work that you have decided to do for the day.

* Taxes. If your an independent contractor or self employed, you need to make sure you are knowledgeable and understand about the tax end of working at home. Taxes can really take you by surprise if your not prepared.

What are the benefits?

* Being home for your family. My kids were older when I start working from home but it was such a joy to be there and have dinner ready for them when they came home from school.

* Freedom. I don't care what anyone says there is a freedom that comes from working at home. You can be your own boss!

* You save money. No more fancy clothes to buy or gas or daycare. Saving on daycare was the biggest for me.

* No office politics or gossip. You can do your work and not have to bother with those things.

* You can call yourself 'self-employed.' I always enjoy saying this when I have to give someone my job title.

By far the pros out weighed any cons for me and my choice to work at home. Even the youngest family members can help to pick out products or to box and ship things that have been purchased. You can get your entire family involved because there are things to be learned for all, and there are tasks that can be accomplished at each level. If your family is involved in your work from home business, you might find that you are able to actually make work into something that everyone can be a part of, and it will not be so much work anymore.

Another thing that you can do is to make your work time correspond with the times where your family is doing something else. Try to get your work done while the kids are at school or after they have gone to sleep. Try not to be working all of the time, remember that even though you are working from home you should not be spending all of your time in your office or your shop.

There should be times that are designated as times that are not for working, and you should be sure that you are sticking by the rules that you have set for yourself so that you do not get burned out. Remember that working from home should be something that is enjoyable to you and something that benefits your family and yourself. If the site offers a low cashout rate of at least a dollar or two you do have a chance to make a couple of extra dollars for your efforts. Most sites will give you anywhere from 0.0025-0.01 per click. If they don't have that many ads to click on, it can take you forever to earn enough cash to reach the required pay out.

Your best bet is to find paid to click sites that also offer surveys or offers for you to sign up for. The surveys will usually offer you a chance to earn much more cash than trying to click on ads everyday.

The only way to really make money on these paid to click sites it to build a downline. Data entry jobs: Online scam?

One of the most sought after online jobs is data entry. This is one of the first jobs I looked for when I started working from home was a Data Entry job. It didn't take me long to realize that most of what is out there is a scam. I think that scammers know this and have taken full advantage of peole wanting to work from home doing data entry or home typist type work.

What are some 'red flags' and warning signs that you should look for when searching for a Data Entry job?

* The company asks for an upfront fee such as a processing fee or that you must pay for training materials. You should never have to pay to start working. There are legitimate fees involved sometimes with onlinejobs such as an equipment fee or background check, but if the job is asking for a fee to even proceed with it then be leery.

* The company is promising an outrageous sum of money for you to make. While there are good paying online jobs, most will not make you rich and if the job is promising to do so it is more than likely a scam.

* The website is only a few months old, or contains a lot of spelling and grammatical errors.

* The job turns out to not be data entry at all but reviewing websites.

* Trust your instincts.

* The job arrives in your email box.

Don't go looking for these jobs on online classified boards most of what you find there is a waste of time. If you want to search for data entry work try work at home forums or discussion boards. Do your homework on these companies that are offering you the moon to work for them. Sometimes just a simple search on Google will give you a wealth of information on whether the company is a scam or not. What is the best way to find paid work from home? I believe it is the same way that you would look for a job outside of the home by checking on line employment listings. There are a wealth of free resources that you can find on line with work at home job boards. Two of my favorites are RatRaceRebellion and WorkAtHomeMafia. Both sites have job listings which are posted daily and both sites are completely free to use.

RatRaceRebellion offers many resources for any work at home job type you can think of. There is something for everyone listed on this board. There are jobs listings posted for categories like Accounting, Engineering, Legal, Notary, Technical Writing, Call Center and Transcription.

If your interested in doing call center type work from home, they have a comparison chart that you can use which lists companies that hire home workers, states they hire in, starting rate of pay, if a background check is required, and if the company hires you as an employee or independent contractor. They even have a whole page dedicated to websites that offer work at home job listings. There is some very valuable information listed on this website and all for free! By far this is the best at home job listing site that I have ever found.

WorkAtHomeMafia is another great site. This website is more of a discussion board, but jobs are also posted daily. There is phone and non-phone type work listed. One thing I really like about this site is that you can read about others experience with companies that you may be thinking of applying to. That a lone is worth taking a look at the site. You do have to create an account to view the job listings, but you don't have to post on the discussion board to stay an active member. There are some great jobs listed daily on this site.

Many people use Craigslist to search for on line employment. My personal experience with the site is that while there is usually quite a bit to be found on the site as far as job listings many of the jobs turn out to be scams. I wouldn't recommend this site as a good source for looking for a work at home job. You may occasionally see a legitimate posting but not too often.

More and more companies seem to be jumping on the work at home bandwagon. You can now also find many more work at home jobs posted on sites like HotJobs and Monster.com. Be sure and check those out daily as well. The key to finding a legitimate well paying work at home job is knowing where to look.

Woke up to no internet and Google Crome

I woke to no internet this morning ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I was so lost without it! Turns out it was an outage with my internet provider and all is well now. I guess I didn't realize how addicted I am to the internet until I had to do without it.

This also made me realize how I probably should look a little harder into finding better internet service. It's not like we live in the sticks but what is available to us is only one step up from dial-up, well........you can imagine how slow that is!

I mostly use Firefox because Internet Explorer gives me too much trouble. My kids keep telling me about Google Crome so I finally tried it. I'm pretty impressed. Strange though it works really good on my laptop but not so great on my desktop computer. I'm thinking it may have to do with the different versions of Windows Vista that I have.

Oh well I think I can live with slow a little longer, but I know I can not ever live without the internet. lol

Nuts to Wordpress

I had originally started this blog on Wordpress. I really liked the themes that they had to pick from. I thought it was going to be fairly easy to use, but once I started getting set up and especially trying to insert text for ads...well it didn't go to well. I'm not sure if you need a plug-in or the feedburner thing??? lol

After a few hours I finally gave up and said "Nuts To This"!

Oh well maybe I will try again later to figure it out.

I just don't have any patients today for computer stuff~~
